Prof. Eliezer Flescher and his fellow researchers from The Sackler Faculty of Medicine in Tel Aviv have developed an anti cancer drug derived from the sweet smelling jasmine flower.
After a decade of research into the compound jasmonate extracted from the jasmine flower, Flescher and his research team are hopeful that an anti cancer drug based on jasmonate could be on the shelf in America within four years.
Initial human studies have proved successful with blood cancers and solid tumors responding to the jasmonate compound.
Results from preliminary research from Flescher and other research teams have shown methyl jasmonate to be a promising candidate for the treatment of prostate cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer and leukemia.
